HEY JORDANA, I LIKE THE NEW STROKES A LOT!

OK, i just uploaded photos from the last Stolen Transmission. They're basically JUST from the DJ booth since I cant really move around places while I'm DJing.

So check it out... This thursday is the first night that we're doing Stolen Transmission at the Annex. No more Orchard bar... we loved the venue, but we needed a bigger place and somewhere that we could have live bands play! That's what we're doing this thursday! Yay! And we're also hosting Matt Rubano's birthday party. You might know him from his band Like Yesterday, or Taking Back Sunday... either way, i've got a very good feel about this.

OK, so for those of you who come to ST, thursdays at the Annex from now on, bring a camera. take photos. and you'll be able to submit them to the stolen transmission website (once it's up at the end of this week) photo gallery! fun times.
PRETTY PRETTY

I've been scouring myspace a bunch lately, looking at people's profiles (i think it's called lurking), and trying to figure out ways to bite off people's style.

I came across this one website which makes me want to express every last bit of my girlishness x1000. Lime Crime. Click on "fashion" and then "make up tutorials" and learn how to make really fucking crazy makeup looks for special occasions. I love it.

COUGH COUGH

I think I've got the black lung. All weekend long, I've spent my mornings, afternoons, and evenings coughing up a storm. My days working in a coal mine are far behind me, so I assumed it was a cold finding its way to me, or even worse, a flu. Alex and Eric over at stolen transmission have both been afflicted with the delightful flu, so it was only a matter of time before it was my turn. Each year i get the flu about twice a season, and somehow I managed to avoid it up until now... and catching it early would be my only line of defense. So i stayed in, bundled up by the heater, and my aching limbs are gonna make it through! No full on flu! No!

While sick, I've been watching Fuse for the past couple hours... How many times will I see a Hawthorne Height's commercial? probably about 10 times an hour.

But thankfully, people have been nice enough to hit me up with awesome links all day:

Sasha the intern sent me this link of cute animals. The hippo/tortoise link is worth everything in the world.

I found talking cats on there... wow.

Remember that Fallout Boy stick figure thing? Gurj sent me one that is of Brand New's "The Quiet Things No One Ever Knows" that might actually top it... well, if you're a Brand New fan.. or maybe not. give it a shot. All i know is that i laughed so hard, i went into convulsions.

Also, my friend Brian Montuori is one of my most favorite friends. He's involved in the artworld and every once in a while he'll give me an amazing portrait of like, Neil Diamond, where his pubic hair is neil's chest hair... or enrich my life with new information about the very bizarre sex acts of extreme gays that he learns when talking to other artists (for instance... some get their nutsack skin replaced with clear material so they can see their balls retract when they cum). Anyway, there's this show that Brian told me about where this this guy in his mid 40's found this teenage girl named lindsey on myspace and became obsessed with her and made a show of huge paintings based on the photos in her profile. You can see these massive paintings for yourself. More info here.

While we're on the topic of Brian Montuori and myspace (you can see him on My MySpace page reading a porno mag... add me as a friend!), i think now would be as good of a time as any to repost one of those questionnaires that he filled out for MySpace. Anytime I need a laugh, I read it... cause I saved it. It was that funny:

A MASSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT

For the past few months, the Tarts of Pleasure have truly enjoyed throwing Stolen Transmission at the Orchard Bar on Friday nights.

But the party got too big and people started getting turned away, and that made us sad. So we decided TO MOVE IT!

It will now be ON THURSDAY NIGHTS! at THE ANNEX (Orchard btw Rivington and Stanton)

Thursdays are the new Fridays anyway.

So this friday is THE LAST EVER TARTS OF PLESURE HOSTED EVENING AT THE ORCHARD BAR

come dance.

Tonight, Karen and I will be DJing at the Annex for a little test run. Come by and say hi.

GATHERATION!

Details for the Stolen Transmission SXSW house party are still forthcoming (all is confirmed, but you know, until the ink dries on agreements, i can't really divulge tooo much). However, I can tell you that it's on FRIDAY, MARCH 17 and WHO is playing and let you know HOW you'll be able to get in.

Line up:
Damone
Lady Sovereign
Boy Kill Boy
Nightmare Of You
The Bronx

You'll be able to sign up starting on March 3 from the Stolen Transmission website which should be launching on that date. If it doesnt launch that date, then you'll have to wait a minute. Everyone can come, but you need to sign up and you need to be 21 or over cause there will be booze.

The heart isn't part of our logo (the ST lightning bolt is tho)... but i think it's something I made because I think I listen to too much My Chemical Romance sometimes:

THIS IS DISGUSTINGLY...

ADORABLE!

My new roommate, Josh, sent me a link of a group called The Sandlot, which he tells me is a brother and his five year old brother singing and writing songs together.

My favorite song by them, "Purpose", had me squealing a little bit in my chair.

I think that between the Sandlot boy, Life With an Astronaut's Dakota, and the japanese kids playing xylophones, my body might be telling me it's time to have little munchkins of my own.

I hope that they look like this:

ACHTUNG, BABY!

Lastnight I was watching tv and goofing off and this commercial came on for WebMD (i think) and I turned to Brandon and Ryan Heil and said "Holy shit! That baby looks like Hitler!" They were like "You're out of your mind... YEAH, a baby looks like hitler... you loon. We gotta see this to prove you're out of your mind." And then they saw the baby and freaked out. it looked like Hitler.

"Yay! Master Race!"

"Ahh... Jews."

DAMN DIRTY APES

Stolen Transmission bands love us. They love us so much that they monkey around and sent us shit like this.

I love those turds in Monty.
DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION

I've been getting a lot of people asking me lately if i knew of any drummers or bassists. Apparently there's a massive lack of these folk around.

So I figured, to broaden my database, I'd post on my blog asking if anyone here plays an instrument. If you play an instrument, can you email me which one(s), a photo of yourself, your age and location, and a link to an mp3 of you playing the instrument as well as the type of music you like to listen to and play?

Thanks!

PONY UP

The only way I'll ever get that pony I've wanted is if Brandon's band wins the SPIN.com Band of the Year contest. Please vote for NIGHTMARE OF YOU. You can also watch a video for their song "I Wanna Be Buried in Your Backyard" on their myspace page.

By the way, only about 3 anglophiles will find this bit funny: On monday night, Gurj and a couple of her british friends went to 2nd on 2nd Karaoke to... sing. She totally ran into one of the girls from Daphne & Celeste who was there with friends singing!!!! so funny... for like 3 people (like i said).

ALL THESE THINGS THAT THEY'VE DONE

Happy Valentines Day!

HOT DAMN! I just got word from a very good friend that the Killers have GONE INTO THE STUDIO TODAY! They've gone in with Flood and Moulder to start recording their second album. I think it's expected to come out later this year. I'm so excited!

I've fallen in love ... with a boy ... no, wait... a song. The other night I was watching MTV2's "Subterranean", and I finally heard a song and saw a video by someone i've always heard wonderful things about: John Vanderslice. I was laying in bed trying to sleep and get my mind off things that had been bothering me. I was certain nothing would take me out of the mood I was in. But then "Exodus Damage" came on and i was mezmerized. It reminded me of when I first heard Nada Surf's "inside of love" as I was trying to doze off a few years ago... dreamy and tragically romantic.

I was even more won over when the chorus drifted out of my TV's speakers, "dance dance revolution, all we're gonna get, unless it falls apart." The song was so beautifully melancholic and all I could picture was Brian in his living room with his new video game. Meanwhile, this morning I was listening to the song and realized that the second verse was about planes crashing into the world trade center. So this is a political song, of sorts. Not a protest song, but perhaps more of a commentary. At least that verse.

Gurj sent me this... so cruel, but still sorta funny.

Gideon sent me this. Alf rules

This morning I told Rob that Calla could be the next Echo and the Bunnymen. COULD... not WILL. I'm realizing how important the teams behind bands are. So many great bands don't reach their potential because of the teams behind them. I hope the team behind Calla do it up. Their album, Televise is one of the sexiest things I've ever heard -- It was majestic with equal amounts of swagger and fragility. Their video was on the same episode of "Subterranean" I saw the Vanderslice video on. Fancy that... MTV is in pretty good form!

Dont you kinda wanna punt this adorable little thing?

I LIKE GRAPES

A year ago, Rob and I took the Oohlas to breakfast at iHop and offered them a deal. A year later they signed their contracts at the Beverly Hills Hotel while sipping their recoupable V-C Champagne.

DEAD TO YOU

A couple months ago, the Tarts of Pleasure's favorite groupie, Nick Manske, came out of hiding to say hi to us at the Orchard bar. He used to come out to whatever we were DJing, anytime we were DJing, and then suddenly he disappeared. This is how stoked we were when we saw him:

I just found out that Gideon's pot smoking neighbor is someone i used to work with. Small world.

I got the new Placebo album the other day. I fucking love that band so much, and their new album is sexy x10.

"Meds" (featuring VV from the Kills)
"Infra-red"

I give good interview.

Goo?(thanks gideon)

Brokeback to the Future

Christina Milian just walked by me. I love sharing a space with Def Jam. Should I have told her i loved the say she looked covered in paint and writhing on the floor?

Please vote for Nightmare of You.
Speaking of... The boys came home last night! Lisa, if you're reading this... we started watching the "Lost" DVDs. Sorry I couldn't wait, I'll lend them to you.

Hasselhoff is "Hooked on a Feeling" (thanks resta)
